I have been painting and drawing since I was a very young child. One of the paintings in this gallery was done when I was 10 years old. I was told it was "very deep". I was asked what I was thinking when I did it, my reply was that I was 10 years old and have no idea what I was thinking. For over 50 years it hung in my mother's house and I reacquired it and my painting "Ruth's Painting" on her death. I grew up close to Killarney, Ontario in the Georgian Bay of Lake Huron where the famous Group of Seven Canadian artists from almost a century ago, painted. There work always appeared true to me. That is the way Northern Ontario is. I have travelled the world and still think with its granite rocks, lakes and forests that it is one of the most beautiful areas of the world. I like to paint it. It brings back memories as a boy sitting in a canoe doing a charcoal drawing of spruce at the tip of the big island in Lake Kakakiwagunda.
